just my ramblings and things I like

Yes I’m a Nintendo fan boy :p

So I was just thinking about it and yea you could consider me a Nintendo fan boy LOL
On Sunday I formatted/cleared the xbox360 without a second thought, to get it ready to sell, and put the money towards a Wii U. I don’t think I’d consider selling the PS3 tho as that is still a useful DVD/bluray player.

Then I’ve been thinking about gaming systems in my life. My very first “machine” was ย Sega computer, the SC-3000 that was brought to Australia by John Sands. My parents got it for me in 1987 I think. I got a couple of cartridges and tapes (yes tapes! it came with a special tape player. Games took forever to load by tape LOL and very prone to failing so you would have to rewind and start again). It also had a programming cartridge and was my first exposure to programming.

Anyways, in ’89 I was ย NES at a friend’s place. I watched him play Metroid ๐Ÿ™‚ It was quite captivating! ย Tho I can’t remember if I played Mario Bros LOL I do remember play TMNT on it though!

Couple of years later the SNES came out, and my parents bought it for me and my sister. My love of Nintendo started then ๐Ÿ™‚ haha
Played Super Mario World, Mario Kart, Tetris, Donkey Kong Country and of course Super Mario All Stars. There were some games that will stay in my memory forever though!! The Addams Family games (the first one and Pugsley’s Scavenger Hunt)!! But mainly because of the music ๐Ÿ™‚ ย I would probably throw in Castlevania ๐Ÿ™‚ I had heaps of fun with that game and had a thril when I completed it! It was also on the SNES that I encountered my first JRPG:ย Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals. I remember calling the Nintendo hotline to get me through some tricky puzzles LOL But I can’t remember if I finished it or not.

Anyways, in ’99 after not having much success at uni I decided to move down to Sydney to see if I can do anything with my life LOL
During this time the Nintendo 64 just came out! So while living at my grandparents’ place I thought it would be a good distraction from them hehehe So I got the N64 and got Mario 64 ๐Ÿ™‚ Had so much fun with the game! And it was quite amazing at the time! And I actually finished the game too ๐Ÿ™‚

I did get Zelda Ocarina of Time too, but I couldn’t finish the game. I just couldn’t come to grips with the controls when it came to aiming with the bow and arrow. I think it was my first rage quit moment LOL (I did get OoT for 3DS and actually finished it as I found the controls much easier to use) I did try Majora’s Mask, but that game irritated me. I just didn’t like the whole reset element of the game at all.

I absolutely loved the New Tetris game that came to N64, with its Seven Wonders. It had brilliant music and just played extremely well. I’ve been disappointed with most tetris games after that.

The Mario Party series was another set of games that were great! I took it to a friend’s place saturday night where we’d have dinner then a session of Mario Party ๐Ÿ™‚

Then 2002 the GameCube came out! I was quite excited to get it. I went to a Toy’r’Us and picked one up. I got Eternal Darkness and Luigi’s Mansion.

So I kinda remember coming home with my friends, plugging it into my TV and putting on Eternal Darkness. I got so engrossed in the game, I vaguely remember saying good bye to my friends who decided to leave LOL I think I kinda stayed up late playing it. (on a side note, I really hope Eternal Darkness comes as a downloadable in future in the eShop).

I also played Luigi’s Mansion which was heaps of fun!! I’m looking forward to the sequel next year ๐Ÿ™‚
And I’ve played other games: Wind Waker was a great game (I do admit I didn’t finish this as the whole traversing the water repeatedly got to me), Metroid (I hope a new one comes out!!), Lost Kingdoms, PN03, Baten Kaitos, Pikmin, Mario Sunshine (while not a bad game, I absolutely hated the time limited levels and eventually led me to stop playing it), Paper Mario and probably others I can’t think of hahaha

Now I should rewind a little bit. The GameBoy. I did have a GameBoy ๐Ÿ™‚ I played that a fair bit too and upgraded when I could. I really liked the GameBoy Colour and that’s where I completed Link’s Awakening ๐Ÿ™‚ (I’ve only ever completed 2 Zelda games LOL). The GameBoy Advance brought in some excellent RPGs and thoroughly enjoyed. Games like Golden Sun and then Final Fantasy Tactics Advance ๐Ÿ™‚ I was eagerly awaiting the DS when it was announced!! So much so I didn’t want to wait, and imported it ๐Ÿ™‚ It came with instructions on how to change the language to english. I then got the DS Lite, the DSi. And now I have the 3DS XL ๐Ÿ™‚ (have given original 3DS to my partner hehe)

In 2006 I went to the rather quiet midnight launch of the Wii ๐Ÿ™‚ Granted I didn’t really play it as much due to so many crappy games, I did enjoy the good games that came out: Xenoblade, The Last Story, Okami, Mario Galaxy 1 (kinda been playing this one on and off, maybe I’ll finish it one day LOL), and now I can’t think of other games that I’ve played LOL my memory can be like a sieve haha

Anyways, I’ve put down a preorder for the Wii U ๐Ÿ™‚ can’t wait!!
